City Council to investigate implications of port transfer

Galway Bay fm newsroom – A report about the transfer of Galway port to local authority ownership is being prepared following a special meeting of the City Council last evening.
Councillors expressed some concerns about implications of the transfer for the Council.
Meanwhile, Sinn Féin Councillor Cathal Ó Conchúir suggested that the port be considered to service offshore oil and gas rigs.
Mayor of Galway, Donal Lyons says the implications of operating Galway port on a local basis need to be explored.
