City Council takes the lead…in dog training

A NEWdog training club has officially been launched in the city under the sponsorship of the City Council – the first of its kind in the country.
The club, which is based in the Liosbán Industrial Estate, provides top-class facilities for dog owners hoping to enter their furry friend in competitions or shows and also training methods and drills for dogs who are used in search operations for missing persons.
Organised dog training has been a popular pastime for many owners in the city, but up until now they were reliant on the generosity of factories and businesses to allow them the use of fields for exercises.
Director of Training at the new Ground, Mike O’Brien told the Sentinel the willingness of Galway City Council to get involved with the initiative presented the club with an opportunity that they hope will make dog training even more popular in the city.
