The city council says it’s trying to find urgent short-term accommodation for a group of travellers camped on a road in Knocknacarra.

Their convoy of 15 caravans moved onto a privately-owned link road between the Western distributor road and Rahoon road after being moved on from a site in Moycullen.

Gardaí served another eviction notice on the travellers last night.

Some traveller families told Galway Bay FM News they want the City Council to provide them with temporary acommodation somewhere within the city boundary.

Housing officials are said to be liaising with the Galway Traveller Movement to find urgent short-term accommodation for the families involved.
