Galway City Council has moved to reject speculation that a statue in memory of those who worked in the Magadelene Laundry in the city, will be moved.

There had been reports that the statue at the junction of Forster Street and Bóthar Uí Éithir was to be moved to facilitate a new bus lane.

However, Head of the Transportation Unit with Galway City Council, Joe Tansey, says it will remain in the same area.
