City council issues advisory after weather warning
Galway bay fm newsroom – Galway city council is advising people to exercise caution in light of the status orange weather alert currently in place from Met Eireann.
Storms and winds of up to 130 km/hour are expected through the day, and people walking along proms and beaches are asked to take extra care.
There is no risk of coastal flooding from high tides but there may be still spot flooding along roads.
Householders are also advised to secure any loose objects or furniture in gardens.
The alert is also in place in Wexford, Mayo, Clare, Limerick and Waterford.
Met Eireann has also issued it’s most serious weather warning for Counties Cork and Kerry.
The Red alert is warning of storm force winds – with gusts of up to 160 kilometres per hour forecast for this morning, along with high seas.
