CITY COUNCIL INVESTIGATING SUSPECTED ILLEGAL LAND GRAB

Galway city council has begun investigating reports of a land grab in a city housing estate.

A contractor moved in to the public playing green of An Sean Bhaile housing estate on the Doughiska road after 5pm yesterday evening and began digging a trench from one end of the park to the other.

City manager Joe McGrath has been informed of the situation and is investigating the legality of the move.
