CITY COUNCIL HITS BACK AT CONNEELY CLAIMS

The city council has hit back at claims made by a city councillor that it’s unable to cope with the prolonged cold spell.

Councillor Padraig Conneely earlier described Eyre Square as an ice rink and said Galway’s most vulnerable citizens were being left to fend for themselves.

A spokesperson for the city council told Galway Bay FM News that supplies of salt and grit are plentiful – with more to be delivered today – and Eyre Square has been included in the gritting process throughout the Christmas.
