CITY COUNCIL DENIES MONEENAGEISHA JUNCTION SOLE CAUSE OF GRIDLOCK

The City Council is denying claims that the new junction at Moneenageisha in the city was the sole cause of traffic chaos yesterday.

Delays of up to an hour were reported on routes approaching the junction which resulted in gridlock for many city routes.

The new traffic light junction has received strong criticism from motorists since it was changed from a roundabout several weeks ago.

Galway City Council Director of Services, Ciarán Hayes says that the Moneenageisha junction was not the only reason for yesterday’s backlog.
