CITY COUNCIL CONSULTS GARDAI OVER CHRISTMAS MARKET
Date Published: 09-Nov-2011
Galway city council is in consultation with Gardaí over the location of the ‘Occupy Galway’ camp and the upcoming Christmas market.
The protestors are currently camped at the top of Eyre Square which is close to where the Continental Chrismas market will open later this month.
The ‘Occupy Galway’ protest began in Eyre Square almost four weeks ago with four tents and a handful of protestors.
Now there are up to 25 tents, and wooden fencing has been erected around the protest site.
The Christmas Market is expected to be staged close at Kennedy Park from the 25th of November to Sunday the 18th of December.
A spokesperson for Galway City Council says they’re in consultation with Gardaí over the current location of the protest.
