CITY COUNCIL CALLS ON HSE TO REVERSE NURSING HOME CLOSURE

The City Council has called on the HSE West to reverse its decision to close down St Francis Community Nursing Home in the city.

Cllr Catherine Connolly proposed the motion which was successfully passed by city councillors at this week’s city council meeting.

The motion also called on all five Galway TDs, in particular the

Government TDs, to support their call and take whatever steps necessary to keep the home open as a public nursing home.

Cllr Padraig Conneely said St Francis residents saw it as their home while Cllr Terry O’Flaherty praised Unit 5 in Merlin Park.
