Galway city council is being called on to revisit the retail strategy for the city in light of controversial re-zoning decisions.

Last month, the majority of council members voted in favour of rezoning around 20 acres of land on the Tuam road, Ballybane and Doughiska from industrial to commercial.

This was despite warnings from city council officials that it would have a negative impact on city centre business.

Galway Senator Niall O’ Brolchain says these decisions made for the citys draft development plan are nonsense
