CITY COUNCIL ADMITS POOR HANDLING OF WATER OUTAGES
Date Published: 23-Jul-2007
Galway city council has acknowledged that its handling of the weekend water outages was inadequate
A small number of homes and businesses in the city and county are now without running water for four days
People living in areas like Gortacleva, Corcullen, Tonabrucky & Bushypark have had no water since Friday because of an electrical problem at the Luimnagh Water Plant.
Despite the fault being fixed on Friday the entire water network has taken longer to replenish than anticipated by council engineers.
Most of the areas affected in the county had running water by Saturday morning but the outer lying areas of the city have been the worst hit.
