City conference debates future of Ireland’s coastal economy

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Ireland’s potential to grow its coastal economy is being discussed at a conference in the city today (27 Aug).

The Socio-Economic Marine Research Unit is hosting its 4th annual Marine Conference at NUIG.

Delegates will debate the value of the ocean and its coastal economies and policy and practice within maritime transport.

Representatives from the Environmental Protection Agancy will also discuss water resource projects at the event.

The final session focuses on ecosystem services with discussion on the Common Fisheries Policy.

The free symposium continues at Aras Moyola at NUIG until after 4 this afternoon.
