CITY COMPANY TO HELP DEVELOP DIABETES INHALER
Date Published: 13-Jan-2011
Galway city based Aerogen is going into partnership with an American company to make an insulin inhaler for diabetics
San Francisco biotech company Dance Pharmaceuticals is developing a next generation inhaled insulin product which would see an end to the insulin injections which diabetic patients currently endure.
Currently there are over 200,000 people in Ireland with diabetes, and over 200 million patients worldwide, giving this project huge market potential.
The insulin inhaler will be in clinical trials and testing for the next few years, however it’s hoped the product will be on the market by 2016.
Aerogen, based in the IDA business park in Dangan, has been in operation for over ten years and employs 35 staff.
