City centre development to create up to 500 jobs

Around 500 new highly skilled jobs are set to be created in the office element of a new €65 million mixed-use development at the top of Eyre Square.

Already, around 50% of the 50,000 square feet of office space in ‘City Point’ (Rinn na Cathrach) has been pre-booked by three companies, while the remainder is in strong demand, according to the developers.
At the same time, there are at least two ‘major operators’ looking at the retail space on the ground floor.

However, the ‘big dig’ has hit a snag, after granite was discovered during ground excavation work, and the project is now running behind schedule.
