City cannabis growers offered option to leave country
Galway Bay fm newsroom – Four Chinese men, who were caught red-handed growing over 7 hundred thousand euro worth of cannabis at two grow-houses on the outskirts of the city, have been given the option to return to China or else face prison here.
The court heard that ringleader, 30 year old Wan Sheng Lin, along with 30 year old Deshi Chen, 34 year old Zu Huang, and 28 year old Li Wang were present at 2 Garrai Sheain, Roscam, when Gardaí entered the premises with a search warrant on July 14th last year.
They were transplanting young cannabis saplings into larger pots at the time.
Lin pleaded guilty before Galway Circuit Criminal Court this week to having the cannabis in his possession for supply to another.
The other three accused pleaded guilty to cultivating the plants without a licence.
All four have been in custody since their arrest and were helped in court by a Chinese interpreter.
