A public meeting will be held for business owners in the city to discuss commercial rates.

Galway Chamber, which is calling for a 10 percent reduction in rates next year, is organising the event.

It follows comments by Councillor Padraig Conneely about uncollected rates of around 20 million euro owed to the Council.

CEO of Galway Chamber, Michael Coyle, says they have never encouraged any member to default on commercial rates payment.

The public meeting will take place at the Hotel Meyrick, next Wednesday, December 1st at 6p.m.
