City based charity calls for meningitis vaccine roll out
A city based charity is calling for a vaccination of a strain of meningitis to be rolled out nationwide as a matter of urgency.
Siobhan Carroll and her husband Noel set up ACT for meningitis in 2011, after they lost their four year old daughter Aoibhe to the illness.
The organisation met with Health Minister James Reilly in the Daíl today, to call for Government to roll out the meningitis b vaccine.
Ireland has the highest rate of meningitis b in Europe, but still does not have the vaccine even though it got a European licence last year.
