CITY ASSAULT ACCUSED SENT FORWARD FOR TRIAL

A city man charged with the sexual assault of two children in the city over a three year period is to be tried in May.

The man in his thirties, who can’t be named for legal reasons, appeared before Galway District Court where a book of evidence was served.

The 35 year old man’s charged with sexual assault involving two girls at a number of city locations on dates between June 2007 and October 2009.

Judge Mary Fahy granted free legal aid and one junior counsel and gave the accused an alibi warning when he appeared before Galway District Court.

He was then sent forward to Galway Circuit Criminal Court where Judge Raymond Groarke ordered a trial date of Tuesday May 22nd.
