City A-wear store closes temporarily as chain enters receivership
Galway Bay fm newsroom – The city based outlet of A-wear and all of the branches in the chain nationwide have closed their doors temporarily this afternoon.
The action has been taken as the company enters receivership after the examinership process failed.
A number of stores are expected to close as a result, although the future for the store at Edward Square in the city is not yet known.
A-wear had been trading under the protection of an examiner since October the 8th with a view to restructuring the business to put it on a sustainable footing.
In a statement, the company says sales projections have not materialised and no viable investor was found.
The business will continue to trade under receivership and it’s hoped the business can be sold as a going concern.
