Concentrating on mental fitness in the workplace was an appropriate way for the CIPD Western Region Committee to launch its Programme of Events for 2014 – 2015 last week.

There was a big turn-out at the Clayton Hotel for the first event of the new season, under the theme “Building Organisational Effectiveness; Sustaining Competitiveness”.

Guest speaker Neil O’Brien – business coach and founder of Time to Fly – shared his insights on how to create a “great day” with a focus on an individual’s mental fitness, their

self-worth and the actions you can take to push your-

self out of your comfort zone.

Neil’s talk was highly interactive and thought provoking, getting everyone to think about mood management, self-discipline, changing or breaking habits and having resilience.

The events calendar for CIPD Western Region 2014-15 is aimed at HR practitioners, people managers, students and academics in the region. Check out www.cipd.ie for more information.
