CIF SAYS SHORTAGE OF GALWAY HOMES

The Construction Industry Federation claims there is a shortage of new homes in Galway city to deal with projected housing needs.

According to figures compiled by the CIF, there are just 260 new homes completed to deal with a projected housing need of 4000 by 2016.

In the county, over 600 homes are vacant to deal with a projected housing need of almost five thousand by 2016.

The Construction federation states the figures are dependent on a return to a more regular level of market activity.
