Church loudspeakers cause a holy nuisance!

From this week’s Galway City Tribune – Official complaints were lodged against a city church for noise associated with daily mass broadcast over a public address system.

Parishioners have been gathering outside St John the Apostle Church in Knocknacarra to hear mass in a socially distant manner.

The services – weekdays at 9.30am and more often at weekends – are broadcast over a PA system.

But two complainants have officially objected to the noise generated by the mass at the Catholic Church on Ballymoneen Road.

Galway City Council has confirmed that it has received two anonymous complaints, and one of its community wardens was dispatched to investigate.

A spokesperson said that the warden sat outside the church and monitored the noise during mass one day last week.
