The Galway City Business Association say this year’s Christmas market will boost the local economy by over 11 million euro.

The third annual continental market will run from November 23rd to December 22nd, five days longer than previous years.

Traders from all over Ireland and Europe will open stalls at the event, which will also include live events such as music, performers and carol singing.

Members of the public have until this Friday to make submissions on plans for the proposed Christmas Market which were put on public display during the Summer.

Galway City Council is then expected to vote on the event at next months meeting of the local authority.
