CHRISTMAS DRINK DRIVING ARRESTS UP IN GALWAY

The number of people arrested for drink driving over the Christmas period in the two Garda divisions in Galway was almost double last year’s figure

There were 29 arrests in Galway West, which includes Galway city and 7 in the Galway East / Roscommon division

Gardaí in Galway West arrested 29 people for drink driving during the Christmas period, up to New Year’s Day

That’s a dramatic increase on last year’s figure of 11

In the Galway East / Roscommon division, which encompasses Tuam and Ballinasloe, there were 7 arrests made

This was just slightly up on last year’s figure of 6 for the same period
