Children’s show at City Library

Galway Kawaii, a series of images by local artist John Jennings, is currently on display in the children’s section of Galway City Library.

Some of these quirky images were created digitally while the others were made the old-fashioned way, using pencil and ink.

“I thought it would be interesting to experiment with different styles of animation, so I took a different approach with different pieces,” John explains. “Some I created digitally on the computer, others I drew with pen and paper.

“I think it’s interesting to see the response to different styles by different people,” he continues. “Some people love their digital art and won’t look at pencil and ink because they see it as  old fashioned, but others won’t even look at a computer screen or a television and only like art if they can smell the graphite from the pencil on it – it’s a physical texture thing.”

However, he hopes there will be something to keep everyone happy in this exhibition which is currently running at the City Library on Augustine Street.
