Children’s Minister to review funding cuts at Ballinasloe therapeutic and learning centre
Galway Bay fm newsroom – The Children’s Minister says he will ensure that no child is disadvataged by funding cuts to the Ballinasloe Therapeutic and Learning Centre.
In his first appearance in the Seanad as Minister for Children, Charlie Flanagan told Galway Senator Trevor O’Clochartaigh that he would review the allocation of funding for the service.
The centre, which is operation since 1983, provides a number of speech and language programmes for children and families in East Galway.
Senator O’Clochartaigh told the Seanad that funding had been cut by around ten thousand euro and as a result, the centre has had to cut its services.
He said the setting up of Túslá – the child and family agency – may have been a cover for cutbacks.
Minister Flanaghan said he will review the situation and ensure that children do not miss out on essential therapy as a result of funding cuts.
