Galway Bay fm newsroom – The Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Frances Fitzgerald says no member of Muintearas group is believed to have profited from a discrepancy regarding funding.

Muintearas operates the Naíolann na nOileán service in the Galway gaeltacht.

Funding is provided for the service through Pobal to make childcare accessible and affordable for disadvantaged and low-income families.

After an audit by Pobal, it was discovered that 197 thousand euro was approved in funding, but it revealed that only 25 thosuand euro should have been provided.

In the Seanad this week, Senator Trevor O’ Clochartaigh asked Minister for Children, Frances Fitzgerald what was being done to rectify the overpayment to Muintearas
