CHILDREN’S MINISTER TO DELIVER REFERENDUM KEYNOTE ADDRESS IN CITY
Date Published: 17-Oct-2012
The Minister for Children and Youth Affairs Frances Fitzgerald is to deliver a key-note address in the city on Monday [Oct 22].
It’s part of a discussion on the upcoming Children’s Rights Referendum where the proposed changes to the constitution will be debated by an expert panel.
The event takes place in NUI Galway at the Engineering Building and is jointly hosted by the UNESCO Child and Family Research Centre and the School of Law in conjunction with the YES for Children Campaign.
Voters will go to the polls in three weeks time.
Meanwhile, a number of groups are launching their campaigns today for a NO vote.
Parents for Children says the State can’t be trusted – and the option should be there to let another family member – such as an aunt or uncle – care for the child instead.
