Cherish the Ladies for Moycullen show

Leading Irish-American trad women’s group Cherish the Ladies will play at the Forge in Moycullen next Friday night, August 29. They will be joined by fiddler Nollaig Casey and singer Cathie Ryan as well as by five-times World Champion, and 2014 Senior Men’s World Champion, step-dancer David Geaney.

Under the leadership of Joanie Madden on flutes and whistles, Cherish the Ladies, which was set up 28 years ago, has become the most successful and sought after group on the traditional scene, touring in the US, Ireland and further afield. In recent years the line-up has included Claddaghduff woman, Mirella Murray on piano accordion.

Their music has won them many awards and they have shared stages with performers including James Taylor, Joan Baez, Emmy Lou Harris, The Clancy Brothers, Tommy Makem, and the Chieftains.

Cherish the Ladies’ 15 a releases includes Celtic Album, their collaboration with the Boston Pops Symphony, which led to a Grammy nomination. More recently, for Country Crossroads they joined forces with Nashville musicians and legendary singers Vince Gill, Nanci Griffith and Maura O’Connell who provided guest vocals.
