From Europe with Love, the ambitious monthly lunchtime series that explores string quartet repertoire from all 27 EU member countries will resume on Tuesday, September 1. It will be held from 1.10pm-1.50pm in its temporary home at Druid’s Mick Lally Theatre.

Organised by the Galway Music Residency, From Europe with Love has been taking place every month for the past couple of years, with monthly lunchtime performances from Galway’s ensemble in residence, ConTempo. These usually take place in St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church, but we’re living in different times now, according to Maeve Bryan of the Residency.

“Following six months of uncertainty and many concert cancellations, Galway Music Residency is delighted to return to live events, albeit under very different circumstances.”

For the coming series, which will run until December, ConTempo Quartet will perform music from Austria, Croatia, Hungary and Romania, picking up from where they left off at the commencement of lockdown.

Kicking things off, on Tuesday, September 1, the quartet will treat audiences to music from two great Austrian composers, Mozart and Schubert.
