Chairperson of West’s hospital group resigns amid controversy
Galway Bay fm newsroom – The Chairperson of the West / North-West Hospitals Group has resigned following claims of a conflict of interest.
Noel Daly took on the voluntary role two years ago, but Sinn Féin claimed he had an agenda.
Mr. Daly is a shareholder in a private healthcare company which carried out a survey of maternity services for the hospitals group.
In a statement, Noel Daly says he took the decision to resign as chairperson because he does not want his personal and professional reputation or the reputation of the group compromised in any way.
He adds that he took on the voluntary role two years ago and was happy to serve in furthering significant improvements in the health services.
Meanwhile, Chief Executive of the West /North-West Hospitals Group, Bill Maher says it’s with deep regret that he heard of Noel Daly’s resignation.
In a statement Bill Maher thanked the former chair for his unstinting hard work over the past two years.
