CELEBRATIONS TO MARK ANNIVERSARY OF ARAN AIRPORT

RESIDENTS on the Aran island of Inis Mor are in celebratory mood this weekend as they mark the 40th anniversary of the opening of the island’s airport.

The anniversary will be marked by an event at the airport in Killeaney, Inis Mor this Sunday (August 16th) at 1 pm.

It will be attended by Minister Eamon O Cuiv who is expected to praise the foresight of those who campaigned for the air service back in the 1960s and 70s.
