Celebration of Cyprus in From Europe With Love

Cyprus is the next port of call in Galway Music Residency’s From Europe with Love project, with a lunchtime concert next Friday, April 9, which will be streamed live from Oughterard Courthouse.

From Europe With Love is a three-year project, from Galway Music Residency with monthly lunchtime concerts that explore the string quartet repertoire from the 27 members of the EU. The music is performed by the ConTempo Quartet and next Friday’s celebration of Cyprus will be available for free on Facebook and YouTube. It can also be watched back following the performance.

The programme will showcase include works by composers Solon Michaelides, Andy Skordis, and Evagoras Karageorgis.

The world premiere of a new work, Epiclisi, composed       specially for this concert by Giorgos Papageorgiou will    also feature. This composition is a response to the suffering    of children in the Syrian conflict.

The event will be introduced by Penelope Soteriou, a former board member of Galway Music Residency, now living in London.
