Celebrate St Patrick’s Day with Hermitage Green
Hermitage Green will play Kelly’s on Tuesday night, March 17, supported by local band, The Clockworks.
The Limerick based five-piece formed in July 2010 as a result of a spontaneous jam session between friends. Since then they have developed in to a strong acoustic rock outfit with trad and folk elements- they reference John Martyn and Nick Drake as influences on their songwriting.
Hermitage Green – brothers Dan and Barry Murphy, Darragh Griffin, Dermot Sheedy and Darragh Graham – have toured extensively and released an EP and an album in the past four years.
Their EP, The Gathering, released in 2012, went to number 1 in the iTunes chart. They followed this with tours of France, the UK, the Middle East, Australia South Africa and the US.
They have performed twice at Electric Picnic, including to 7,000 people in the Electric Arena tent in 2013, and also had a weekly residency on the RTÉ TV sports show, Second Captains.
Their debut album, Live at Whelan’s, was released in November 2013. Joe Chester (Ryan Sheridan, Mundy, Gemma Hayes and The Coronas) was on production duties. For their Kelly’s show, Hermitage Green will be supported by The Clockworks, four school friends from Galway, whose passions include FIFA masters, Schooner Tonic Wine Connoisseurs, and above all else, playing and writing music together. Already they have supported bands such as Keywest, and In Their Thousands, as well of Little Mammoths (led by Matt Owens of Noah and the Whale), and The Magic Numbers.
