Cashel squander 5 point lead

A 15-POINT haul from Craughwell sharpshooter Niall Healy was central in ensuring his side will be in the mix for county honours come September following this four point victory over Castlegar in Loughrea last Sunday evening.

While this second round senior championship clash may have lacked a certain intensity, for its entertainment value alone it sure provided its thrills. Among them was Healy’s substantial haul, but then there was also the contribution of Castlegar’s Ger Farragher. Farragher amassed an impressive 13 points, including three magnificent sideline cuts.

There were also enough twists and turns to add to the compelling nature of the contest, the greatest of which occurred in the final quarter. With Castlegar five points to the good, it looked as if the 2007 semi-finalists would close out the fixture. Certainly, they were moving the ball well.

However, not for the first time, Craughwell — who found themselves trailing 2-16 to 1-14 by the 47th minute — called on ………………….
