The salmon farming industry on the Connemara coast is facing a cash crisis because stocks have been seriously reduced by disease.

Pancreas disease, a long running scourge of the industry, has meant that the supply of Irish farmed salmon has been hit

This has reduced cash flow to critical levels in some companies, and Údarás na Gaeltachta is trying to organise a rescue package in the short term.
