Car rammed off the road in Galway as Traveller feud escalates
From this week’s Galway City Tribune – Gardaí have pledged to vigorously pursue those involved in the latest violent episode between two feuding families which involved the ramming of a car in the city, leading to the hospitalisation of three people.
A senior Garda has said that the “utterly reckless” behaviour of the car involved in the ramming incident on Bothar na dTreabh could have had “catastrophic consequences”.
The two occupants of the car which was rammed were taken to University Hospital Galway while another motorist – unintentionally caught up the incident – was also treated at UHG for minor injuries.
Gardaí told the Galway City Tribune that a major Garda investigation into last Friday’s incident was underway.
“This is absolutely reckless behaviour on our roads and could have resulted in multiple injuries or fatalities.
“If anyone had been walking on the pathway at the time this incident occurred, the results could have been catastrophic.”
This newspaper understands that last Friday’s ramming incident is the latest in a series of violent acts between two Traveller families based in the city and in Tuam.
