Canadian firm to invest €2m euro in Connemara seaweed company

Galway Bay fm newsroom – A Canadian firm has committed to investing €2m in a Connemara seaweed harvesting company.
Acadian Seaplants has been formally announced as the new owner of Arramara Teo, which is one of the longest established industries in Connemara, providing full-time and part-time employment.
The company has been in business in Cill Chiaráin since 1947.
The Gaeltacht Minister, Dinny McGinley visited the region today where he officiated at the transfer of ownership.
During the announcement, the President of Acadian Seaplants said the firm would make an initial investment of €2m.
He also envisaged further jobs in the future with some of these in the area of research and development.
President JP Deveau said more jobs will be created in time.
