Since earliest times, humans have tried to understand the meaning of life, a quest which has led people on paths of spirituality, including going on pilgrimage.
Doing a pilgrimage allows people to escape their everyday lives and offers them a chance to gain a deeper understanding of themselves.
El Camino de Santiago, or The Way of Saint James, is one of the oldest and most popular of all spiritual pilgrimages, undertaken by more than 200,000 people every year.
The path from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port to Santiago de Compostela, is often considered a metaphor for the journey from the cradle to the grave and it’s against that backdrop that the documentary Looking for Infinity: El Camino was born.
The film offers an intimate and fascinating insight into the pilgrims’ journeys, and probes some of the timeless questions confronting humanity.
Looking for Infinity: El Camino follows different people on their pilgrimage, starting with the first step on a path of over 500 miles. On roads and paths where distractions are stripped away, life once again becomes simplified to its essential nature.
This debut documentary from Aaron C Leaman examines the time, space and patience that walking the Camino requires and holds up a mirror to the audience, while providing people with the inspiration to take the first step.
