Caltra get the job done 2nd time around

CALTRA U-21 footballers produced a powerful first half performance and a strong finish to set themselves up for a deserved victory in this Irish Rail North Board B final replay at Tuam Stadium last Friday evening .

This contest was fought out with the same intensity as the drawn game two weeks ago, but Seamus Lawlor’s men produced a far more determined display on this occasion in claiming divisional honours.

Caltra’s ability to convert most of their chances too was a telling factor, but Kilkerrin Clonberne’s poor finishing in front of goal didn’t help as they were forced to chase the game in the second half having trailed by double scores at the interval.

The winners had a five star match winning performance from their midfielder and captain Paddy Birch. The industrious and athletic number nine led by example all through, epitomising their greater
