Galway Deputy Mayor Frank Fahy is calling on city council officials to speed up plans to protect a coastal walkway in Salthill.

The plan to develop and enhance the walkway from Sliverstrand to Sailin is currently being progressed by RPS consultants on behalf of the city council.

Site investigation works were carried out late last year, and following completion of the design a foreshore licence application will be submitted to the Department of the Environment.

However, works can only begin once these plans are approved and are still subject to funding.

Fine Gael councillor Frank Fahy says these plans need to be expedited.
