CALLS ON GOVERNMENT TO RELEASE FUNDS TO REPAIR ROADS

Connemara county councillor Seamus Walsh is calling on the Government to allow the county council release funds to repair ice-damaged roads.

Many local and secondary roads were severely damaged during the recent adverse weather as pipes burst and potholes formed.

Appeals have already been made to Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs and Galway West Deputy Eamon O’Cúiv to release repair work funds.

The National Roads Authority is also expected to visit Galway this week to examine the extent of the damage.
