CALLS FOR PUBLIC SERVANTS TO JUSTIFY WAGE OVERPAYMENTS

A Galway Senator has called on public servants to justify their wages.

Senator Fidelma Healy Eames says she wants a full investigation on the one billion euro paid to public servants outside of their normal wage.

The move follows revelations in the Comptroller and Auditor General’s report that over one billion euro was paid to public servants on overtime, extra allowances and weekend pay.

Senator Eames says that she wants an immediate investigation into the reason for these payments.

She says that the public deserves the truth, and these payments should be justified
