CALLS FOR ACTION OVER OUTSTANDING UHG HEALTH INSURANCE CLAIMS
Date Published: 28-Nov-2012
The Chairman of the HSE West regional forum is calling for action after it emerged a consultant has yet to sign off on over 300 thousand euro worth of insurance claims.
Padraig Conneely told yesterday’s meeting of the forum that it was a ‘disgrace’ that this money had not yet been claimed by the Galway Roscommon hospital group.
Chief operating officer Tony Canavan said there were a number of reasons that insurance claims could be outstanding.
Assistant national director for finance Liam Minihan added there is now an agreement that the HSE will sign off on insurance claims within 14 days.
Figures released at the meeting show that 15 million euro is outstanding to UHG and Merlin Park hospitals, 10 million owed for less that a year and almost 5 million for over a year.
Councillor Padraig Conneely is now calling for the Department of Health to intervene.
