Call to combat Lough Corrib weed infestation

Galway Bay fm newsroom – A city councillor has called for more funding to combat a weed infestation in Upper Lough Corrib.

Councillor Padraic Conneely, who is also Chairperson of the Lough Corrib Navigation Trustees, says more funding is needed to implement measures to control the growth of the waterweed, known as Lagarosiphon Major.

Councillor Conneely says that Lough Corrib is a vital recreational and economic resource.
