Outstanding payments must be made to cardiac perfusionists at the city’s public hospitals.

That’s according to City Councillor Padraig Conneely who says the matter must be addressed to avoid any future risk to cardiac services.

The HSE has stressed there is NO risk to cardiac services.

It also stated that discussions are ongoing nationally on issues pertaining to perfusionists for which no limits have been agreed between the involved parties.

Tony Canavan, Chief Operating Officer for the Galway and Roscommon University Hospital Group also said the HSE is in the process of hiring a third cardiac perfusionist.

Padraig Conneely says he plans to raise the issue with hospital management this week.
