CALL FOR UPGRADE FOR EXISTING KNOCKNACARRA SCHOOLS

The existing Gael school in Knocknacarra needs to be upgraded before any new primary school is built in the area.

That’s according to Galway West TD Sean Kyne who raised the matter with Minister for Education Ruairí Quinn last evening.

Patronage of planned new schools which includes a new primary school in Knocknacarra was published this week.

The Principal, teachers and parents of Gael Scoil Mhic Amhlaigh, which is currently dependendent on eight prefabs, have been seeking a new school building for several years.

Deputy Kyne said the department of education must prioritise the needs of existing schools in the area.
