CALL FOR STAFFING REVIEW AFTER WORST EVER NIGHT IN UHG CASUALTY

The Irish Nurses Organisation is calling for a review of staffing levels at University Hospital Galway, after 44 patients were awaiting admission to A&E overnight.

252 people sought help at the department in total yesterday.

The I-N-O says seven patients were nursed in a public waiting room and 30 patients were on trolleys awaiting admission this morning.

Its calling for an urgent meeting with management at the hospital and the introduction of a Medical Assessment Unit.
