Call for night-time closure of laneway
Date Published: 16-Sep-2008
A LANEWAY leading to a city-centre park — which has become a magnet for ‘louts’ who are engaged in drug dealing, underage drinking and other criminal behaviour — should be blocked off at night, according to a city councillor.
Graffiti painted onto the rear of their homes, boisterous and drunken behaviour by gangs of youths, drug dealing and general anti-social and criminal behaviour is a nightly reality for residents of Walsh’s terrace and Riverside in Woodquay who live beside City Council owned pitches known as ‘The Plots’.
